Allah Does Not Wrong Anyone.

Many continue suggesting doing “universal good” is UNIVERSAL and then continue to point out that the Christian, Buddhist, Hindoo, Atheist and almost everyone else does this – doing good. They point out that it’s perfectly possible to lead a “good life without Islam”; So why does one have to subject oneself to the DO’s and DO NOT’s of ISLAM? They claim that avoiding lies, helping the needy, feeding the poor, looking after one’s parents, loving the neighbor/enemy, caring for animals, visiting the sick, avoiding killing, treating women kindly are all within reach of human beings irrespective of their beliefs.

I think many have shared their views on this. Thakuru, Yusuf and I have all dealt with this in some depth in this blog. However this question keeps cropping up. Lets try to remind ourselves of the many facets of this question. Would I be wrong in saying that this so called “Universal Good” that some take pleasure in talking about; is not “NEW NEWS” to a Muslim. The Seal of Prophets – Mohammad, pboh said:

"Every human being is born in a state of pure nature; but through the influence of his parents, he may become non-Muslim."

From this Hadis it’s obvious that all human beings have that innate propensity to do as HIS CREATOR WANTS HIM/HER TO DO. A Muslim remembering his prophet’s words would no doubt recognise this as the concept of “FITRA”. Some people might call it a human’s ability to do “universal good”. What is more, we Muslims are also taught that human beings feel this great surge of well-being when he does certain actions. Similiarly human beings feel this instant need to hide from the view of others certain actions. We are told the former turns out to be good actions, and the latter bad actions.

What is more this innate programming if you will, so perfect at birth is prone to corruption as one grows - due to outside influences and in later life the strength of this primordial ability becomes a test of faith itself. This reality is so succinctly and forcefully taught to us by our beloved prophet –pboh, when he taught mankind that in the human being there is a part called the heart, which is at the onset wonderfully pure and clear. If this remains so it heralds endless bliss for that happy person.

Everytime a person commits an act that’s bad, an action that he would like to hide from others; there on this heart appears a tiny black spot. If he repeats this process another black spot appears and this goes on until death. So he taught us that if this part in us called the heart is good, then it leads the person towards endless bliss. Taking lessons from the prophet Muhammad –Pboh; Yusuf Estees reminds us the case study of a person taking drugs.

The first time - there is this great innate resistance to taking drugs. Its difficult, it needles people’s conscience. The second time its already easier & soon it becomes second nature and an addiction. Like the fall of dominos innate resistance drops until is born a drug addict. This is the same for telling lies, drinking alcohol, adultery, fornication, eating pork etc. each having a first time, and each of these having a cumulative effect, until people reach this unenviable state of affairs ………..

"If people had been forbidden to make porridge of camel dung, they would do it, saying that it wouldn't be forbidden unless there was some good in it."

Let’s remind ourselves that Allah is also called THE ALL MERCIFUL. Mercy is something we are told that Allah has taken on Himself for all his creation, from the very start. This also explains why human beings have this innate propensity to do WHAT ALLAH HAS ORDERED. This is in accordance with a ALL MERCIFUL CREATOR.

This is why the Christian belief of ORIGINAL SIN and the belief that babies are born full of sin & evil is so incompatible with a CREATOR WHO IS ALL MERCIFUL, AND WHO IS JUST.
The Koran teaches us the opposite that Each person would carry his own burden. No soul would carry the burden of another. A BABY IS NOT TAINTED BY HIS PARENTS DEEDS AT BIRTH. Lets read the following ayats ….
‘And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to God is the [final] destination’ (Surah Fatir 35:18).
‘God does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned’ (Surah al-Baqarah 2:286)
We also learn that human beings have a body and soul. The soul predates the body and knows Allah and what is pleasing to Allah. This once again explains the innate goodness of human beings that are capable of doing what’s good – Universal good is no big deal for Muslims after all. We are taught all about it. However there is more than meets the eye. Consider……………… All actions are based on intentions, for we learn from our prophet – pboh…….

"Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated." [Al-Bukhari & Muslim].
So the consequences of our actions obviously depends on what we intended. The good you do, would Insha Allah be rewarded according to what you intended. So if you feed your neighbour because you feel for his condition, then indeed you would gain reward for that. If you are moved by pity for him and you want to be seen as a good fellow by those around, your rewards are in keeping with that. If your intention is to help this neighbour because Allah has ordered you, and you do so in that intention your reward is according to this.
With these considerations in mind, when I read the following hadis, things become very clear to me, Praise Allah!. I hope Insha Allah it is the same for you ……
Allah does not wrong anyone. A believer is rewarded both here and in the hereafter. A disbeliever is rewarded in this world for all of his good deeds. Thus when he goes to the hereafter, he has no (more) deeds for which he can be rewarded there. – Muslim.

Then, when I read the following Hadis below…. I can see very clearly the choices Allah has given me. The choice of Obeying Allah, and the Choice of leading my life without thinking of Allah. The choice I make will have an impact in the hereafter. …..

The (example of the ) value of this world in comparison to (that of) the hereafter is as if you dip a finger in the ocean and then pull it out. So see how much water sticks to it. – Muslim.

With these considerations in mind, naturally, whatever I do I’m conscious of my intension, because I realize that the outcome of my actions depends on my intension. This matters to me very much BECAUSE THERE IS A HEREAFTER, which starts immediately after I die. That hereafter is endless in time, stretching on and on……….

I certainly don’t want to be rewarded for what I do ONLY IN THIS WORLD, because the hereafter is ENDLESS, and the only way I would be rewarded there IN THE HEREAFTER would be to base my actions ONLY ON ALLAH. In short To follow the Deen of Allah.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, can you understand me that I beg Allah to draw me close to Allah, and beg him to make me remember Allah always. I have even asked my friends and family to remind me of God, in case I forget. I ask you to do that for me too. Pascals wager would prompt any person to do likewise.

Further there are so many hadis that calls upon me to do good. So reading them, often, its becomes easier and easier to remember God whilst doing good that the hadis refer to. Observe how appeals are constantly made to the inherent innate propensity to do good.

Keeping the above discussion in mind, consider these beautiful Hadis……..

+ "Avoid anything that requires an excuse."
+ “Whoever guides someone towards good will receive the reward of the one who acts upon it.”
+ “The most perfect believer (in his faith) is he whose conduct is best, and the best among you is he who behaves best towards his wife”
+ “Allah, the Lord of Honour and Glory says, “ Whoever does one good deed will receive ten rewards, or even more; Whoever sins once will be punished in proportion to it, or I may pardon him……” – A Qudsi Hadis”.
+ “One who lacks kindness of heart lacks all good”.

Its evident from the above that HUMAN BEINGS irrespective of his beliefs can do good. What’s also evident is that everyone would be rewarded according to his intentions. Thus it’s those whose intention is to obey the commands of Allah so as to please Allah, that Allah accordingly rewards in the hereafter.

In this context its chilling to read the following verses from the Koran..
3:85 - He who seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him and he will be a loser in the Hereafter.
5:3 This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favour on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion;

So with all that has gone above, I humbly say as in the following verse…..

I have put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature He does not hold by the forelock. My Lord is on a straight path’ (11:56).

Three D’s - Difficult topic, Difficult to find meaning, Difficult to read.

All this that you write, has any meaning if a person believes in the unseen. If not it’s a waste of good time. The ideas are not free flowing.

Even so I read to the last with a lot of difficulty. I must add my salt bottle was over, having had to take so many pinches of salt.

I'm flattered that this whole post addresses my persistent questioning about "UNIVERSAL GOOD" - Collars up .... tee he he heee

I also agree that this is too long. It was some struggle to go upto the end, but I did. I assure jasmine, at least I am mulling all these torturous lines of thought she has started. It will take time, and I promise that questions I will ask, if i feel its need.

But what is faith - faith in the unseen? HOW CAN ONE HAVE FAITH WITHOUT SATISFYING ONE'S SENSE OF INQUIRY?

Is it not a reality that the majority of common people belonging to ALL RELIGIONS believe without actually comprehending the meaning of their belief? They just happen to believe and that is all there is to it.

CAN MUSLIMS DENY THIS? food for thought.

teee heee heeee guys easy on the salt intake. You will end up with High Blood Pressure. Jasmines castles in the air is not worth getting high blood pressure. :-)

I do not see any good in this discussion of this nonsense about “universal good”. It is absolutely pointless discussion something close to disputation, that’s not encouraged in Islam.

What’s very clear is Allah swt has from Adam’s, sal time intervened in the affairs of man by giving man guidance to mankind. If the so called “UNIVERSAL GOOD” common to men was sufficient to lead man’s life, then Allah swt WOULDN’T HAVE SEND HIS MESSENGERS TO COMMUNICATE HIS WILL TO MAN.

Its a case of “take it or leave it” and face the consequences.

The developed countries, the so call Muslim countries, and the rest HAVE ALL REJECTED Allah swt and His Guidance. Now they face the consequences. Observe these consequences ……

1. The chaos in the developed west. Do they lack the means to avoid this chaos?
2. The chaos and humiliation in the so called Muslim world? Inspite of all the oil.
3. The chaos and pain in the rest of the world?
4. The chaos in our own lives in Maldives – Drugs, Theft, Divorce etc.

Which of you would dare to deny this?

Maldives in the last 30 years has strayed away from its Islamic roots at an alarming rate. Most of the youth are with mediocre Islamic understanding. Society as a whole has strayed so much from Islamic norms that problems never seen before in Maldives is just erupting at an incredible rate.

There lies the CAUSE OF ALL OUR PRESENT DAY PROBLEMS – STRAYING FROM THE KORAN AND HADIS.

Its time that Maldivians wake up to this danger, now before we destroy ourselves. The only hope is to REURN TO ALLAH.

I wrote about this “universal good” only because it keeps coming up, and it will keep coming up.

We cannot avoid these issues if we want to make any headway in todays sceptic world. The youth are enticed by such ideas. Not only youth but decent people with western education return home with such ideas playing on their minds.

The answer is to meet head-on and address the issues. Islam has all the answers. What’s lacking today is NOT ANSWERS, but Muslims who are conscious of the fact that Islam and Muslims are under attack from all sides – specially from WITHIN.

When we wake up to this danger, already too many of our youth could be lost to us. Thats indeed pathetic. This community is like 1 body. If a member gets hurt / mislead, then the body as a whole would and should feel the pain. Thats what Islam teaches us.

THAT’S THE DANGER. Lets not let that happen on our watch. Lets help each other to come to Allah.

Enough of such depressing realities for now.

These past days, I was having real problems with my posts and blog. I used to read hadis after hadis and verse after verse. What strength it gave me. How moving were some of the verses. Thanks for the many beautiful mail. May Allah Bless you all.

I like to ask you out there, to please do continue with those beautiful posts. Its not important even if you cannot write English well. Copy out just the ayat or Hadis that has moved you. Those ayats and Hadis itself does not need commentary. We will Insha Allah derive benefit from the inimitable beauty and sagesse of them.

Some of you write to me saying that your English is not good enough. Who cares about your English? This is the net. You are anonymous, until you want to give yourself a name. Only Allah would know who you are :-).

If you are still hesitant, write to me ... jassilme@yahoo.co.uk Insha Allah, time permitting I’ll return them to you with corrections to the best of my ability.

If anything don’t give up. We maybe few now. Remember! at Badr too we were few too - just 313. Then we had Allah & the prophet. Today we have Allah, the Koran and the prophets Hadis. Insha Allah we will succeed in reaching our ultimate goal – Insha Allah ………

TO GET CLOSE TO ALLAH, TO LOVE ALLAH, AND SUBMIT OURSELVES TO ALLAH.

Peace!

I'll tolerate anything you want.

Do what you want in your bedroom. Worship how you wish. Do the drugs you want. I don't care. Just leave me alone.

Since you religious believers can't conceive of not pushing your beliefs on others, every day of our life,I have the full right to condemn, ridicule, berate and otherwise exclaim the full ongoing stupidity and ignorance of you and yours.

There are serious problems with belief itself. As long as believers fail to get their own houses in order, their beliefs, though unintended, will spread exactly the kind of dogmatism and hatred they claim to oppose.

People of faith who spread hate claim exactly the same foundation for their beliefs as those spread other beliefs.

As long as people can justify any belief by attributing it to God, or any other unknowable source, this situation will continue.

One of the beautiful things in Islam is that on the day of judgment, the Creator has revealed that a person is responsible for ONLY HIS DEEDS.

On that day he will stand alone in front of the Creator and be accountable for what he did on earth. HE WOULD HAVE INDISPUTABLE EVIDENCE IN RECORDINGS. ( Today this is quite understandable )

This teaching, if understood properly makes one fearful of doing anything wrong, against what has been taught in the scriptures, This includes worshiping Allah alone, being nice to your neighbours, your parents, etc.

This would engender tolerance love & enhance the spirit of doing good, trying to prevent bad. All the short comings of society as a whole becomes your own problem, and not somebody elses problem.

OMG! surely everyone sees that this is a prescription to solve all our many problems. O Allah Grant us eyes to see, ears to hear, and above all polish our hearts so that in it is reflected true THAUHEED. Amen!

You (freethinkers) can hide from the cops (the only valid reason for a freethinker's moral existance, if any exist) and do your dirty work secretly in your houses. There is no wrong as long as you dont get caught. The only evil that can be justified by using free thinkers logic is "getting caught" by the law enforcement officials(cops)."Life is short enjoy it" is the very scientific and very logical answer they've given to the existence of us (human) in this vast universe full of knowledge. And now they say we dont use our brains.

The difference between a Muslim home and a freethinkers home, is there residents know Allah's (Praised and Exalted be He) continual presence. They heed Him, and feel Him, and they fear Him as if they see Him, for even though they don’t see Him, He sees them. We believ, we obey and we submit.

If you took 10 marbles and number them 1 to 10 and all of them with different colours and you put them inside of a bag and shook the bag and then closing your eyes reached inside that bag, and I told you, pull out marble number 1 and then marble number 2 and then pull out marble number 3 in order. What’s the chance of your pulling out of these 10 marbles in order? Do you know the chances are? Its 26 millions to 1. So what’s the chance of the heavens and the earth being thrown in a big bang and orchestrated like they are. What’s the chance of that?

Let's hear from Swiss mathematician Charles Eugene Jai. In an experiment aimed at answering this very question, Jai set out to calculate the probability of the random formation of a single protein molecule. Jai 'helped' the situation by assuming the existence of formative elements, and by selecting a protein consisting of only 2,000 atoms (An average protein might consist of 32,000 atoms or more). Jai also assumed that the protein would consist of only 2 unique formative atoms.

He determined the value of probability by considering the size of the material and the time necessary for the random formation to occur. He calculated that the probability of forming even a simplified protein molecule was approximately 1 in 5 x 10 e+320 !

Were they created out of nothing? Or were they themselves the creators.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing.

Certainly not. Prophet Muhammad - pbuh was only a man . He was just like many thousands of men before him who received special favour from God to be chosen as a Messenger from God to men. Examples of such chosen men are Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and the last prophet - Muhammad. May Allah Bless them all.

No true Messenger of God ever asked his followers to worship himself. All of them asked men to worship Allah without any association.

The following verse from the Koran explains this clearly.

3/144....Muhammad is but a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) have passed away before him. Will it be that, when he dieth or is slain, ye will turn back on your heels? He who turneth back on his heels doth no hurt to Allah, and Allah will reward the thankful.

I might add, that before prophet Muhammad -pbuh, all the prophets/Messengers of God came to a particular community or nation. Only prophet Muhammad came with the honour of being chosen as a Messenger for the whole of mankind.

You mention Christ - Pbuh. It's well known that Jesus Christ - May Allah Bless him, is reputed to have said that HE HAD COME ONLY TO THE LOST SHEEP OF ISRAEL; he is known to have given specific instructions for his desciples not to go to the Gentiles.

In contrast the prophet Muhammad told clearly that he was sent to the whole of mankind....

As compiled by Bukhari & Muslim....

Abu Hurayrah reprted that the prophet(pbuh) said: Every prophet was sent to his own people, but I have been sent to all of mankind.

In conclusion both Jesus Christ and Muhammad - May Allah Bless them both were Mighty Messengers of God. Prophet Muhammad was the seal of prophets. After him, no more prophets would come as a Messenger from Allah, with a new message.

Koran 33.40
Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Hope that makes things clear for you. God Bless you and May He Guide you to HIM. Amin!

@ saami

Thanks your interest. If you have a problem please quote your problem instead of just throwing at us things randomly. Please quote us ONE HADIS where there is any hint where the prophet -pbuh is ANYTHING BUT A MAN.

I repeat if you have a question about Islam please put it clearly. Insha Allah a brother or sister would do the reserch and answer you. If we are unable to find an answer we would reffer you to some source who Insha Allah would answer your question.

May Allah forgive you and GUIDE YOU TO HIM.

Qur'an is a book signs(not science), and that many of the statements made in there at that time could not be proven but that modern scientific methods are now in a position to prove what Quran said 1400 years ago. So what does Quran say about the creation of the universe. Lets see

'Big Bang' theory. It explains the existence of the universe in amanner having an initial beginning with an explosion from a "singularity" to form a immense mass of thick gases.

What is a "singularity"? Singularities are zones which defy our current understanding of physics. Defy evry law of "nature" we know of. They are thought to exist at the core of "black holes." Black holes are areas of intense gravitational pressure. The pressure is thought to be so intense that finite matter cease to exist(a mathematical concept which truly out of reach from human mind). A condition of non-existence in which neither matter, nor energy, not even time existed. Its screaming "supernatural".

Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before We clove them asunder, and We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"(21:30)

Let us take a look at the verse with this knowledge in mind. In the verse, sky and earth are at first subject to the status of ratq (joined together). They are separated (fataqa) with one coming out of the other. Intriguingly, when we remember the first moments of the Big Bang, we see that a single point included all the matter in the universe. In other words, everything, including "the heavens and earth" which were not created yet, were included in this point in a condition of ratq. This point exploded violently, causing its matter to fataqa and in the process created the structure of the whole universe.

After its initial "Big Bang" the whole universe was nothing but a cloud of ‘smoke’ (i.e. an opaque highly dense and hot gaseous composition) which is expanding. This is one of the undisputed principles of standard modern cosmology. Scientists now can observe new stars forming out of the remnants of that ‘smoke’(nebula)

Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke..(41:11)

There are numerous such signs that one can show from the Quran. Arent these signs enough to convince you? Only if read the Quran to find the truth. Only if your are really seeking the truth.

We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?(41:53)

Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy. (4:82)

May Allah show us truth and guide us to him -Amin-

1. Are you aware, dear brother that the Holy Bible thousands of years before your book taught mankind that Jehovah created the Heavens, the earth, the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and everything on earth from water?

2. How would you respond dear brother if I tell you many have written books charging that your book is a plagiarized version of the Holy Bible?

3. What would you say if I tell you that the whole Western culture and Western scientific progress and development have all been powered by the power of the holy Bible?

4. What would you say that.. Nowhere in the Bible would you have reference to the sun setting in a muddy pool?

5. What would you say if I told you that my kid sister in junior school for art draws random lines in a sheet of paper and then takes pleasure in lining out shapes from her random scribbles. In her last attempt we counted no less than 16 recognizable shapes. Are you not lining out “so called scientific facts” out of a jumble of thousands of verses – like the big bang theory etc.?

6. Do you realize that with today’s knowledge, technological advancement such THEORIES as the big bang theory maybe plausible, however in 2500 years from now, such theories might be rejected under the light of new knowledge and technological advancement?

After all its a THEORY and not a LAW. Do you appreciate the difference?

7. Can you name one of your kind - a Muslim who reading such great scientific facts elicited in your book put forward such a scientific fact extracted from your book that awed the world - JUST ONE?

8. Is it not that once discoveries have been made by scientists of our Western scholarship born out of Biblical guidance, and decades if not centuries later (in the late 20th. Century;) your kind – Muslim apologists are suddenly using our Christian discoveries (powered by our western culture and scholarship engendered by the holy Bible) to advance the so-called scientific miracles of your book?

9. Name 1 scientific miracle from your book made use of by a Muslim to introduce a fact of science before the fact was discovered by someone else?

10. Are you not cutting and pasting stuff, which you haven’t well thought out?

Thakurus, I have made 10 observations and 10 questions? Would you care to answer some if not all.

Love truth, come to truth, and don’t be scared of the truth. You don’t have to find EXCUSES for truth. Truth needs no defense.

You will discover truth if you are humble. KNOCK! AND THE DOOR WOULD BE OPENED.

You wrote with a big bang. Now I and the readers are awaiting your answers dear brother thakurus.

wither, this discussion going? Lets remind ourselves a bit about Easa alaihissalam....

s4/v171:

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth.

Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him:

so believe in Allah and His messengers.

Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah:

Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

... paraphrasing mark, he sort of said this below.... Any comments..... SIR?

The Bible says God created the world in 6 days. Very clearly also states heavens, earth, animal kingdom, plant kingdom and everthing was created from water. These truths were revealed in the Bible thousands of years before your book. What will you say to me if I tell you that there is plagiarism?

Short and sweet pls.

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal.
It is He Who sent down to thee , in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).
(3:2-3)

Similarities between the Qur’an and the Bible does not necessarily mean that the former has been copied from the latter. In fact it gives evidence that both of them are based on a common third source; all divine revelations came from the same source - the one universal God. No matter what human changes were introduced into some of these Judeo-Christian and other older religious scriptures that had distorted their originality, there are some areas that have remained free from distortion and thus are common to many religions.

If you further want me to point out some crucial differences between both where Quran has proved to be the accurate one, Insha Allah, by the will of Allah I can do that.

May Allah guide us all -Amin-

@Observer
As per the Bible, in the first book of Genesis in Chapter One, the universe was created in six days and each day is defined as a twenty-four hours period. Even though the Qur’an mentions that the universe was created in six ‘Ayyaams’, ‘Ayyaam’ is the plural of years; period or epoch which is a very long period of time.

When the Qur’an mentions that the universe was created in six ‘Ayyaams’, it refers to the creation of the heavens and the earth in six long periods or epochs; scientists have no objection to this statement. The creation of the universe has taken billions of years, which proves false or contradicts the concept of the Bible which states that the creation of the Universe took six days of twenty-four hour durations each.

You said.. "Similarities between the Qur’an and the Bible does not necessarily mean that the former has been copied from the latter. In fact it gives evidence that both of them are based on a common third source; all divine revelations came from the same source - the one universal God."

Precisely! That’s very true what you have noted. Art critics immediately note the pointers to thought, style, and detail of the works of any master. . In the case of the Bible the one great problem is that WE DON’T HAVE THE ORIGINAL BIBLE IN ITS ORIGINAL LANGUAGE. So, to make a textual comparison now is impossible between the revealed ORIGINAL Coran (Available) and the revealed ORIGINAL BOOKS OF THE BIBLE (Unavailable)

Thus on the one hand in the Coran we have Gods words in its ORIGINAL purity. In the case of the Bible, WE HAVE LOST THE ORIGINAL WORKS IN ITS ORIGINAL PURITY. This is not my opinion. This is the opinion of the great majority of Muslim Coran scholars for the Coran and this is the opinion of the majority of the Biblical scholars for the Bible.

Further, MARKS contention of the Coran being copied from the Bible DOES NOT STAND UP TO CLOSE SCRUTINY. To verify Marks insinuated opinion is indeed an exciting, challenging journey with a lot of twists and turns. It isn’t a job for the faint-hearted. You need time and dedication on this journey, and my word! When I took that journey, my whole life changed. Thanks are to Allah.

If the charge is that the Coran was copied from the Bible, then you would EXPECT ALL THE MISTAKES IN THE BIBLE TO APPEAR IN THE CORAN TOO. This isn’t a casual statement. The fact that the Bible in its present form contains reams of mistakes is well known and documented by Christian Bible scholars themselves. Any student of Mr. Deedat would know the famous plagiarism in the present Bible demonstrated by him in a debate with a Christian Biblical expert.

Its truly mesmerising and socks you in the jaw that even when the same subject is treated in both the Coran and Bible, ITS TRULY AMAZING THAT THE MISTAKES THAT HAS CREPT INTO THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE IS NOT REPEATED IN THE CORAN. (This also another POINTER THAT THE CHARGE THAT THE CORAN WAS COPIED FROM THE BIBLE IS FRIVOLOUS.)

These curious realities (Common topics being treated and the fact that mistakes in the books of Bible are not seen in the Coran) suggest to me 2 very important points....

1. Just as Thakuru points out that common subjects are treated in both Koran and Bible because the author is one - ALLAH. Any person who has read a series or seen a sequel knows what’s implied here.

2. The very reason the Koran HAD TO BE REVEALED was that man's words and ideas had corrupted the Books of the Bible. Many times in the Saint Coran, Allah reminds us of topics that were treated earlier in the Bible ... Not for the sake of repetition but ......

1. To confirm what was in the original uncorrupted bible in its original language.
2. To correct the errors that had crept into the Books of the Bible during its transmission by ERRORS OF OMISSION OR COMMISSION.

Please re-read the above. It’s very important.

I'm not saying all this for fun. In order to investigate this fully, one has to compare the Coran and the counterfeit Bible we have with us. I say counterfeit because THE ORIGINAL BIBLE BOOKS, IN THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE THAT THOSE BOOKS WERE SENT DOWN TO ITS RESPECTIVE PROPHET IS NOT WITH MANKIND. IT HAS BEEN LOST.

This type of comparison is not possible in a blog. By Allah's Grace I was fortunate to read a beautiful comparison made by the great Algerian author Malek Bennabi. In this work he compares the stories of prophet Yusuf and the Creation accounts.

I followed the comparison verse for verse and it was amazing. The conclusion was STARK. The Coran COULD NOT HAVE BEEN COPIED FROM THE BIBLE for
1. Linguistic reasons, 2. Contextual reasons. 3. Reasons of style. 4. Reasons of Tone 5. Reasons of historical authenticity.

It’s impossible for me to go into further details. As it is I have gone into much detail so that it would be possible for each and every one of you to make the comparison yourself.

Mark, you could put these 2 accounts from the Saint Coran and Bible side by side and compare. Be prepared to experience a lightening - like shock of realisation...... That Oh! MY GOD!!!!!! THIS CORAN, IS INDEED THE WORD OF GOD ALMIGHTY, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT. I'm sharing with you my personal experience.

Thank-You, Oh! Lord FOR SAVING ME. THANK YOU FOR GUIDING ME TO THE TRUTH.

I must now continue for the sake of completeness. As an introduction to the proposed above study, let me put to Mark and all of you these 2 points.

1.
In the Creation narration in the Bible what do we have? Creation in 6 days - not eras (As Thakuru pointed out). What of the 7th. Day?

In the Bible we have literally GOD BEING TIRED OF HIS WORKS AND SO RESTING ON THE 7th. DAY. THAT’S THE ORIGIN OF THE DAY OF SABBATH FOR PRACTISING JEWS.

ASK YOURSELF, CAN A PERFECT GOD, ALL POWERFUL, THE SUSTAINER OF EVERYTHING - THIS GOD FEEL TIRED? BY DEFINITION IT’S IMPOSSIBLE. To say otherwise would mean that God is not perfect. GOD FORBID.

Take the Coranic account. THERE IS NO MENTION OF GOD BEING TIRED. IT IS SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT TIREDNESS DOES NOT OVERCOME ALLAH EVER.

For those who say that the Creation account in the Coran was copied from the Bible; it’s impossible to explain how the IMPERFECT GOD SEEN IN TODAYS CORRUPTED BIBLE all of a sudden became a PERFECT GOD in the Coran.

Mark, do you now see why Allah had to send prophet Muhammad –pbuh after Jesus –pbuh with the Coran? Among many reasons, the following stand out.

1. To confirm the Creation story.
2. To correct the attributes of God. (Surviving one said God got tired).

The second example is in the prophet Yusuf’s story. The comparison is an eye-opener. In the Coran it’s related in beautiful high moralistic tones of immense sanctity. In the Biblical account it’s the OPPOSITE. But that is not the point.

The point is that in the Biblical account is a glaring Historical Discrepancy. What is it?

In the Biblical account the ruler in Egypt was named “Pharaoh”. But archaeology and History attests that at that time the ruler in Egypt was not called a “Pharaoh”. This is according to relatively recent archaeological finds. Now if the Coran were copied, you would EXPECT THE SAME MISTAKE TO APPEAR IN THE PROPHET YUSUF’S ACCOUNT IN THE CORAN.

Subhanallahi!!!! NO. The ruler in Egypt in the prophet Yusuf’s story in the CORAN IS NOT CALLED A PHAROAH. So once again the account in the Bible is taken up, presented in the highest moral tones (missing in the Bible account) and expunged of mistakes.

Mark, do you see why I rejected the charge that the Coran was copied from the existing Bible?

May Allah Guide me. AS we should always say…. ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

For your information I was making reference to the authorised King James Version. My dear anonymous friend, what you are attempting to do is to split hairs. You could do that but it would do you no good.

If you were serious you would have cared to address the 10 questions I put to your fellow religionist Thakuru. In this blog very pertinent questions are asked with no response. WHY? Take for instance “U-Me” had asked what you people think about TOLERANCE. In answer we have – SILENCE.

I also asked 1 simple question.

I WOULD REPEAT THIS QUESTION AGAIN… With so many claims of scientific miracles for your book … Can you name 1 scientific fact taken up by your book that helped any Muslim from anywhere in the world to announce some original discovery based on some verse in that book.

Can you deny that your book advises Muslims NOT TO TAKE Christians, Jews and non-Muslims as friends? Does this not lead to warped mentalities that stimulate Muslims to be violent against all these non-Muslims?

I could go on and on.

Finally living here in Maldives for sometime I can see that you Maldivians are thankfully for you, what can be coined nominal Muslims, or “beer & drug Muslims”. Most of my friends and acquaintances here take intense pleasure in following the social norms of the Christian developed West. You take great pride in imitating the way we talk, the way we dress, the way we eat, the way we drink and most important the way we think and discipline ourselves.

Your budding politicians after benefiting from Christian Universities in Australia, Uk / Europe, USA, are fast trying to take your socio-economically backward society forward. They have seen, felt and derived much benefit from their stay amongst us. Let them take you forward into the century. Together we can look forward to an era of freedom, respect for human dignity and human rights.

Seeing Maldivian youth gives us hope. Learn and let live. The future beckons, answer its call.

@Yusuf.. You being of Christian origin I don’t have to tell you the power of Lucifer to deceive. His armies are legion, and his methods slick and effective. Your smooth words, and carrot and stick approach reminds me of Damian. By the way I’m sure your wife is Algerian or Moroccan. There are legions of these Muslim women and men in our cities.

They leave their own Islamic countries because there it’s bigoted without any respect for women and human rights. There is no opportunity for self-enhancement and self- realisation, and are backward to the limit. Very often their sons and daughters who are able to study and integrate into the western norms refuse to go back to their backward Islamic countries.

When they come to the western cities, they experience the opportunities, the human rights on offer and such great scope for self-enhancement, they want to stay. The influxes of these people are so great that western governments are forced to enact legislation to limit this huge wave of Immigration. This is so in Australia, Italy, Germany, UK & USA. The only road open for them to circumvent the immigration rules is for marriage. So Islam enters Western development through the back door. Yusuf my pal you are such a vehicle used to boost the statistics. A statistic that erroneously states that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the West.

Like it or not, that’s the state of affairs. You are just a passport for some poor wretch. You my smooth as silk friend, cannot be excused for calling the Bible a counterfeit. If the roles were reversed guess where you would be? You would be with a fatwa hanging on your head and probably would end up decapitated with your head a good few meters from your torso.

Good-luck!

islam was a fantastic development in the 7th century. 1400 and more years have passed and we are living in a different time. Our outlook is changed. People no longer have to spend their time to think about surviving. We have TV radio, fast food, discos, night clubs, leisure trips, fantastic universities and techs. We have realised productivity is key to a better tomorrow and we are becoming more productive. Our life standards are sky high compared to forefathers. We as all people in the world are galloping ahead.

Islam is struck in a pot hole thats in the 7th century. It does not encourage moving with times. So it still stones people for exercising their right to choose a partner, lashes you for exercising your basic human right to drink what you want. Then women are made slaves, and struck in the kitchen, and frowns on girls going to schools. Imagine choping your hands for stealing a chewing gum? For a month if you eat whilst fasting you would be ostracised and if you choose to say good-bye to this oppresive environment you would risk your neck for appostasising.

In this enlightened age of bubble trains, rockets zooming into space, TV , mobile phones and the net, we are damned struck in a time buble of 1500 yrs back. We are crying ENOUGH ENOUGH let there be human rights, let there be human dignity and let there be human respect and LET THERE BE FREEDOM.

Its enough these ninjas and unkept beardies trying to muzzle us. We need to say enough is enough, we need to send them to where they belong the desert.

@ all of you there,

Or like darkness on a bottomless ocean spread with clashing billows and overcast with clouds: darkness upon darkness. If he stretches out his hand he can scarcely see it. Indeed the man from whom Allah withholds His light shall find no light at all.

@mark
Concerning the relationship with non- Muslims, the approach of Islam towards them is relative and depends on who this non-Muslim is.

The following verses of the Qur'an assert the difference in approach according to the difference in their attitude. The Qur’an says what means:

Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of [your] religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice. Allah only forbids you respecting those who made war upon you on account of (your) religion, and drove you forth from your homes and backed up (others) in your expulsion, that you make friends with them, and whoever makes friends with them, these are the unjust.(60:8-9)

Islam teaches us that we should be friendly to all people. Islam teaches us that we should deal even with our enemies with justice and fairness.

Allah says in the Qur'an

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah as witnesses to fair dealings and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just, that is next to piety. Fear Allah, indeed Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.(5:8)

Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have received the Christians of Najran with kindness in his Masjid in Madinah. They argued with him about Islam, but he returned them with honor and respect. There are many examples from his life that show that he was the friendliest person to all people.

Of course this tolerance of Islam with other religions applies on those non- Muslims who hold no animosity or rancor to the Muslims. At the same time Muslims are cautioned not to take them as "awliya". This does not mean that Muslims should not treat them with respect, kindness, and justice, nor that Muslims cannot socialize with them as long as they respect the limits of Islam - for example, that no alcohol is served. But it does mean that Muslims should seek personal advice and, on a national level, allies, from fellow Muslims.

The verse Our christian brother mark is refering is Al-Maeda Verse:51. Actually a lot of christians like to quote this verse.

O you who believe! Do not take Jews and Christians as your "awliya". They are "awliya"s of their own people. He among you who will turn to them for protection is one of them. Verily Allah guides not a people unjust.(Al-Ma'dah 5: 51)

Transliteration:
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo latattakhithoo alyahooda waalnnasara awliyaa baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin waman yatawallahumminkum fa-innahu minhum inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena(5:51)

1.In the verse your mentioning, the word "أولياء" is used. It is a plural and its singular is "ولي". The correct translation of the word ""wali"" is not "friend" but it is someone who is very close and intimate. It is also used to mean "guardian, protector, patron, lord and master". Refer a arabic dictionary or use the internet to confirm it yourself. Proof of this is found in Quran (2:257) & (17:33).

It is obvious that Jews patronize the Jews and Christians patronize the Christians, so why not Muslims patronize Muslims and support their own people. This verse is not telling us to be against Jews or Christians, but it is telling us that we should take care of our own people and we must support each other.

2. In his Tafsir, (Qur’an exegesis) Imam Ibn Kathir has mentioned that some scholars say that this verse (i.e. the one you referred to) was revealed after the Battle of Uhud when Muslims had a set back. At that time, a Muslim from Madinah said, "I am going to live with Jews so I shall be safe in case another attack comes on Madinah." And another person said, "I am going to live with Christians so I shall be safe in case another attack comes on Madinah." So Allah revealed this verse reminding the believers that they should not seek the protection from others.(See Ibn Kathir, Al-Tafsir, vol. 2, p. 68)

So brother mark peace unto you, we can be friends ;) but i dont seek protection from you, cos Al-mighty Allah is my protector.

May Allah guide u and rest of us -Ameen-

@Mark, Freethinkers and all you secularists who keeps needling us here. I must say that certain aspects of this post of mine do not give me any pleasure at all. Having said that I confess I’m sick and tired of certain attitudes current on this blog.

Why is it so difficult to lead a good life? Is this a relevant question? Are we dramatising and exaggerating?

We read about Universal good proposed by freethinkers and secularists. On the level of the individual it rarely matters unless you become a serial killer or “a la Bonnie and Clyde”. One lives dies and rots without a ripple. On a personal level at death he/she returns to His Creator and certainly he would be judged.

On the level of the family, ill effects of individual life styles already becomes noticeable. On the level of the neighborhood the consequences of live styles of individuals are already hard to ignore.

One step up at the society and country level the consequences of individual life styles are impossible to ignore, and individual life styles have both a cumulative and synergistic effect. Often these effects are felt outside the society in question.

Lets take a look at History. Lets try to observe how successful peoples have been in practicing “universal good”.

Is this a useless exercise? He who does not know history would be prone to make the same mistakes on the one hand and as has been said, “History of the world is the worlds court of justice”. Even if victors often write History, it might help us to see certain basic trends.

Genocide of the indigenous people of the New world, world war 1, world war 2, Genocide of the Jewish nation, the Korean war, the Vietnam war, Genocide of the Palestinian nation, Indian fight for Independence, Algerian war, Gulf war 1, September 11th carnage, Iraq war, Afghanistan war
- just to name a few of the evil that the world has witnessed has seen the killing of MILLIONS OF INNOCENT MEN, WOMEN, CHILDREN AND THE INFIRM.

The common factor in all this carnage is oppression, suppression of mans rights, the desire to dominate others and impose their will on others. Some collective ailment blunts peoples' common sense and pushes people to think that killing THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF HUMAN BEINGS IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR AGE, AND SEX and creating unthinkable terror in the non-stop, round the clock BOMBING was justified to meet some end.

We all saw the EVIL, horrible, senseless carnage of Sept.11 in our sitting rooms. The stench of death we did not smell, but we saw the terror and hopelessness etched into fellow human beings face, in the smogy gloom of the smoke of destruction that swirled in ground zero and environs.

Thankfully we did not see the other terrors enacted not very long ago elsewhere. All that we can say judging from the numbers killed and destruction wrought in those killing fields is that the terror and evil were hundreds of multiples of what we saw in that Evil, cowardly, heartless destruction and terror of Sept. 11th.

How could this come about? How could human beings born to human mothers be transformed into “ SUCH EVIL MONSTERS”?

Wither freethinkers, secularists out there IS YOUR ASSERTION OF UNIVERSAL GOOD? Whither Mark are the FRUITS OF YOUR SO CALLED DEVELOPED CHRISTIAN WESTERN SOCIETIES?

Ask yourself Mark, what indeed powered this grand "development" in the West? Could it have been that the enslavement of millions upon millions of human beings had a major role to play? Could it have been that the plunder, rape and destruction of land after land in the waves of colonization undertaken by the Western hordes in the name of KING AND CHURCH had its role to play?

Have you forgotten the MINDSET that burned human beings in their hundreds of thousands in inquisitions, war, enslavement, and amassed the riches from the miseries and destitution of millions in the world to build your beautiful cities and power your "development"?

EVIL HAS NO BOUNDS, has many faces – that of STATE SPONSORED MASS KILLINGS OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN, SOME EVIL TERRORIST WITH HIS/HER SUICIDE BELT, AND THEN GRAND MACHINATIONS TO ENSLAVE PEOPLE, ironically in the name of the new religion of democracy.

CLASSY CARS, BUBBLE TRAINS, MEGA MALLS, MEGA UNIVERSITIES, CANNOT HIDE THE GORY FOUNDATIONS ON WHICH THESE CASTLES IN THE AIR WERE BUILT ON. - CASTLES IN THE AIR BECAUSE YOU WILL WAKE-UP at DEATH TO THE REALITY OF WHAT YOU TRULY EARNED.

24:39-40
As for the unbelievers, their works are like a mirage in a desert. The thirsty traveller thinks it is water, but when he comes near he finds that it is nothing. He finds Allah there, who pays him back in full. Swift is Allah's reckoning.

Or like darkness on a bottomless ocean spread with clashing billows and overcast with clouds: darkness upon darkness. If he stretches out his hand he can scarcely see it. Indeed the man from whom Allah withholds His light shall find no light at all.

Marc, your insistent strident tone of posts left me with no alternative but to point out the rotting dark and tarnished other side of the polished coin you keep waving under our noses.

You should realize Marc that PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT THROW STONES. The fact is that the type of education that you are nurtured on in your so-called developed Christian West does not equip “ MONKEYS TO SEE THE MUCK SULLYING THEIR OWN DIRTY BACKS. FORGIVE ME!

I hope that ends there the unpleasantness you started, Marc, freethinkers and secularists.

Getting back to the question WHY SO MUCH EVIL IN THIS WORLD? – Weather it be state sponsored terrorism the type we had seen in the past and what’s actually happening now in different parts of the globe, or Terrorists so evil and so cowardly that defies human logic with their suicide belts and bombs targeting innocent women and children DEMANDS ANSWERS.

Reading the holy Koran with a heart pleading Allah SWT to Guide one, and reflecting on the following verses in the Koran, THE ANSWER TO THE ABOVE QUESTION BECOMES CLEAR TO ANYONE WHO WISHES TO LEARN. – All Praise be to Allah.

Dear Brothers/sisters in Islam REFLECT ON THESE VERSES. TAKE YOUR TIME, ASKING ALLAH TO PLEASE GUIDE YOU. REMEMBER IF YOU TAKE ONE STEP TOWARDS ALLAH, WE ARE ASSURED HE WOULD TAKE 10 STEPS TOWARDS YOU. IF YOU WALK TOWARDS ALLAH, HE WOULD RUN TOWRDS YOU. ALLAH IS AFTER ALL – THE ALL MERCIFUL, THE BENEFICIENT, THE LIVING, THE SUBLIME!

2:30-34
When your Lord said to the angels: "I am placing on the earth one that shall rule as My deputy," they replied: "Will You put there one that will do evil and shed blood, when we have for so long sung Your praises and sanctified Your name?"

He said: "I know what you do not know."

He taught Adam the names of all things and then set them before the Angels, saying: "Tell Me the names of these, if what you say be true."

"Glory to You," they replied, "we have no knowledge except that which you have given us. You alone are wise and all-knowing."

Then said He to Adam: "Tell them their names." And when Adam had named them, He said: "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth, and all that you hide and all that you reveal?"

And when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam," they all prostrated themselves except Satan, who in his pride refused and became an unbeliever.

7:12-17
"Why did you not prostrate yourself?" Allah asked.

"I am nobler than Adam," he replied. "You created me of fire and him of clay."

He said: "Be gone from Paradise! This is no place for your contemptuous pride. Away with you! Henceforth you shall be humble."

Satan replied: "Reprieve me till the Day of Resurrection."

"You are reprieved," said He.

"Because You have led me into sin," said Satan, "I will waylay Your servants as they walk on your straight path, and spring upon them from the front and from the rear, from their right and from their left. Then you shall find the greater part of them ungrateful."

17:63-65
"Be gone!" said He. "Hell is your reward, and the reward of those that follow you. An ample reward it shall be. Rouse with your voice whomever you are able. Muster against them all your forces. O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared and die not except in a state of Islam.

And hold fast all together by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you) and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favour on you; …..

Dear bro/ sis, The Rope Of Allah SWT! The Rope of Allah SWT is His Book and the guidance given to us by Rasoolullahi - pbuh.

As has been noted in this blog before, those who make it their pass time going from one blog to another attacking Islam is a sad reality. We cannot avoid it. We have to deal with it with patience and firmness. The questions are stereotypical. The answers often long and winding. They know it, so they flood you. Don’t be upset. Islam has all the answers.

Brothers/ sisters in islam may Allah Bless you for your many hadis and Koran postings. Those brothers who took so much time to frame answers made this blog interesting and vibrant. I thank those free thinkers and secularists who show their interest in Islam. May I ask you to please moderate your language.

Peace! and May Allah Bless all of you.

Allah the Lord of Glory and Honour says: “…When someone approaches Me a hands length, I approach him an arm’s length; when someone walks towards Me, I run towards him; and when someone comes to Me (seeking My forgiveness) full of as many sins as the whole world contains, I meet him with an equal amount of forgiveness.

sister this is the hadis you reffer to? Collected in Muslim ?Please note the correction, if it is the one. In hadis we have to be a lot careful and very accurate. very good reading this.

But what is faith - faith in the unseen? HOW CAN ONE HAVE FAITH WITHOUT SATISFYING ONE'S SENSE OF INQUIRY?..........

Good Question you put. I’m NOT AN EXPERT in Islam. I am an ordinary person on the street, would like much to be judged a Muslim.

Religious scholars have failed in their duty in passing what they learn. They spend their time on peripheral issues. They want to decorate a building before laying down its foundation.

I’m a “born Muslim” to Muslim parents. My Islam studies centered around my mother. She tried her best. At school I learnt what we all learn – about wars and stuff like that. Islam was not central to my life --- until I came near with death.

1.Allah has invited man to observe nature.
2.Allah has invited man to travel in the land and observe.
3.Allah has invited man to reflect and think about what he sees.
4.Allah has sent His Word - the Koran through his last prophet – Muhammad (sal).

Thinking on 1 and 2 and acting on 3, left me with no credible explanation to what I saw in 1 and 2 BUT THAT THERE WAS A GOD WHO CREATED EVERYTHING.

Reflecting on 4 changed my life views. In the Koran is material proof for what I had deduced in 1 and 2. Concrete, tangible proof for the existence of Allah. Here Allah reveals Himself to the extent He decided. In the first person Allah talks to mankind – so ME too.

So ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION……… I HAVE FAITH – By Allah’s Grace, AFTER SATISFYING MY SENSE OF INQUIRY. I agree with you that I cannot have faith in something to be correct, if in my mind arises questions that suggest that what I have faith in, is incorrect. example….

I know from my inquiry like my baby sister (6yrs) that 1+1+1=3. I might believe that 1=3, BUT ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO HAVE FAITH IN THIS, because I KNOW FROM MY INQUIRIES THAT 1 CANNOT BE = 3.

For me there is a fine line between faith and belief. The former for me is certainity that is born out of inquiry, observation, recording, reasoning and coming to a conclusion that EXPLAINS WHAT”S INQUIRED ABOUT.

The latter (belief) is anything that you believe. Like to believe that the stork brought baby brother.

Its time that Maldivians wake up to this danger, now before we destroy ourselves. The only hope is to REURN TO ALLAH.

Mate what exactly are you saying? What does this mean in practical terms. This is some stupid utopian idea. Are you proposing that those Adalath party geeks to sit over us? Is it some theocracy you advocate. NO THANKS. Are you high on something? Are you bankrupt of all ideas? Gee!

No I am NOT HIGH on anything :-) . If you get your bearings right, and are willing to come down to earth,:-) you would have noted in my post that I identified what I believe to be the CAUSE of our problems in Maldives. I did not stop there, I also proposed the remedy. So that’s what I’m exactly saying…….Return to Allah swt, by Obeying Gods commandments as found in Koran and Hadis.

What this means in practical terms translates into two levels.

At an individual level and at the level of society. There is no point of talking of the latter without successfully taking implementing of the former. So I really dont have to even think of the latter.

At an individual level, each and everyone of us must take the first step; which is to learn about the Creator of ALL- Allah. The only way to do that without running into error is to turn to what Allah has revealed about himself. You must make sure you have exactly what Allah revealed about himself.

The only book giving us THIS CERTAINITY is the Koran. So we need to read the Koran. I think it’s to read the Koran slowly with understanding, with the object of following His commandments. I hope that is clear to you. Maybe other bro/sis, thakuru, jasmine, yusuf, hussain would like to add or correct me please.

Allah Knows Best Always.

So the prophet (sal) said.

"Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you.

I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah (Hadith), and if you follow these you will never go astray."

Also he (sal) said

"Muslims will divide into 73 groups. All will be in Hell, except one. The one me and my companions are on today."

Hope these will prove useful Insha Allah.

@ All who posted and those who visited us…

Peace! To you. I’m very thankful to Allah for all your help by Allah’s Grace. This time of the year is a busy time with exams and so much to do. However I always was thrilled to read such beautiful verses of the Koran and often touching Hadis. It always proved to be a morale booster and a tonic. I confess there were moments of elation, other times sadness and on a few occasions anger. However through thick and thin I had By Allah’s Grace confidence to face the day, because I knew that Allah loved me. Isn’t it amazing? No it should not be. Allah created me. He sustained me. HE IS THE MERCIFUL. That is MY LORD! LORD OF LORDS. KING OF KINGS. THE SUBLIME. I thank Allah for His Grace to me. I pray that Allah will bless us all. Lets all work hard to be worthy of the Love Allah has for us – HIS SLAVES. May Allah also reward the bro Musta who corrected me and posted the actual Qudsi Hadis ..
“When someone approaches Me a hands length, I approach him an arm’s length; when someone walks towards Me, I run towards him; and when someone comes to Me (seeking My forgiveness) full of as many sins as the whole world contains, I meet him with an equal amount of forgiveness”.

@ Yusuf
May Allah Bless you and reward you four posts straight from the heart and sharing your unique experience with us. I have read your posts with fascination and Praise Allah. Allah rewards those who strive in His path. May Allah make us such slaves completely submitted to Allah’s Will. Ameen.

@ Thakuru..
It was always so sweet reading your well thought out posts. Alhamdulillahi. Your response to Mark was interesting and I read with eagerness. It really helped me your treatment of “awliya”. Allah indeed will reward you. Insha Allah so many of us benefited.

Let me assure that it was not my intention to post an “extreme, hate post” as you put it. Certainly I agree with you that Islam is peace, love and harmony. Masha Allah we are in agreement. :-). I quite agree with you that I need to learn more Islam than I know at present – really very little. Once again I agree with you that I should read bro Thakuru’s posts. I can by Allah’s Grace tell you that I often read his posts more than once – because they are as you say full of information, balanced and constructive. Masha Allah, its very sweet too. Allah Bless you.

@ Musta.
May Allah reward you for correcting the details, and giving me such sound advice. Indeed that was a Muslim hadis. Yes indeed if we attribute to the prophet that which he did not say would be utter ruin on the day of judgement. Alhamdulillahi. May Allah reward you for posting the hadis.

@ Aisha
May Allah Bless you for sharing your thinking on faith. It made such sense and it really moved me. How thankful we should be to Allah for our faith. Reading your post and then thinking about Prophet Ibrahim how he observed nature and drew his conclusions was to be so touching. Allah is Great. Subhanallahi! :-)

sister jasmine I found the hadis relating to the heart, and Masha Allah look at this Hadis. So clear isn't it. Brothers and sisters in islam Hope you will benefit from it...

Muhammad, peace be upon him, said :

'Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them.

So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor.

And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it.

(O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things.

Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart. (Sahih Al Bukhari Vol.1, Hadith No.49)

Thakuru said...

1. Yes. I am aware that Adam (alaihisalaam) was the first human being, to whom Allah had taught everything. He knew his creator and the creator of this universe and everything else is Allah. It was the ppl after him who twisted the truth. The ppl after him started following the ways proposed by iblees, who vowed to rid us from Allahs mercy and wrong us from the right path Allah has chosen for us. And then Allah has sent numerous messengers and prophets to nations reminding them of Allah and to return them to the right path. I know Eesa/Jesus(alaihisalaam) was a messenger of Allah. His message to his ppl was the same as the message of all the other prophets. To worship Allah (Creator of the universe and everything in it) alone and not to associate any partners with him. Prophet Mohameds(s.a.w) message to the mankind is the same as that of Eesa alaihisalam, to worship Allah alone and to return to the path Allah has chosen for us. So I agree with all the parts thats in accordance with the last revelation of Allah, Quran, but its the parts u "omitted and committed" that i have a problem believing. I have also noticed that When christians talk about the creation of the Universe they quickly resort to the one God which I can accept easily.

2. I think there've been responses to this, read brother Yusufs (may Allah reward him and bring him closer to Allah-Amin-) explanation.

3. Who is the giver of knowledge? It is Allah who is all-knowledgeable and it is he who gives knowledge to whom ever he wills whether it be christian, Jewish, Buddist, or Muslim. Regarding the statement western scientific progress being powered by the bible i think the history do tell us a different story about this. For instance,

(a) Giordano Bruno(1548-1600) best known early proponent of heliocentrism (sun being the center of solar system). This labeled him a heretic was burned alive (with his jaw clamped shut and a spike rammed through his tongue) by the churches. The original, primary documentation for his execution has long since been lost.

There is very interesting thing to note here. Pope John Paul II in 2000 stated that "it was common Catholic doctrine that Bruno was executed for offenses not including heliocentrism. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy apparently takes the same position to this very day. Perhaps part of Galileo’s story just got mixed in over subsequent re-tellings".

Well, there is a problem with this line of reasoning. In 1940 documentation that directly cited the lost, original primary documentation was found, including the line of inquiry that Bruno was subject to.

In response to questioning about his cosmology, Bruno replied in defense;

"Firstly, I say that the theories on the movement of the earth and on the immobility of the firmament or sky are by me produced on a reasoned and sure basis, which doesn’t undermine the authority of the Holy Sciptures […]. With regard to the sun, I say that it doesn’t rise or set, nor do we see it rise or set, because, if the earth rotates on his axis, what do we mean by rising and setting[…]"(Vatican Secret Archives, retrieved 2008)

So if Bruno wasn’t charged with heresy at least in part on the grounds of his heliocentrism, why was he defending heliocentrism from his inquisitors?

(b) Galileo (1564-1642) is a scientific revolutionist. Galileo's presentation of heliocentrism (the Sun is at the center of the Solar System) as proven fact resulted in the churches prohibiting its advocacy because the churches held a different geocentric (earth being the center of solar system) view which came in accordance to there scriptures at that time. Galileo was eventually forced to recant his heliocentrism and spent the last years of his life under house arrest.
All under the aegis of a church supposedly friendly to science.

4. If your implying that no where in the bible there is any scientific error. I think I mentioned 1. And Brother Yusuf did point out a Historical error as well and there are so many logical errors. Here are 5 questions where contradicting answers are given in the bible.
(i)The chief of the mighty men of David lifted up his spear and killed how many men at one time?
Eight hundred (2 Samuel 23:8)
Three hundred (I Chronicles 11: 11)

(ii)When did David bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem? Before defeating the Philistines or after?
After (2 Samuel 5 and 6)
Before (I Chronicles 13 and 14)

(iii)How many pairs of clean animals did God tell Noah to take into the Ark?
Two (Genesis 6:19, 20)
Seven (Genesis 7:2). But despite this last instruction only two pairs went into the ark (Genesis 7:8-9)

(iv)When David defeated the King of Zobah, how many horsemen did he capture?
One thousand and seven hundred (2 Samuel 8:4)
Seven thousand (I Chronicles 18:4)

(v)How many stalls for horses did Solomon have?
Forty thousand (I Kings 4:26)
Four thousand (2 chronicles 9:25)

Yes brother if god wills I can go on adding more to this list. Nothing is hidden from Allah, he hears all, sees all and knows all in my heart and Allah knows I'm not lying when I'm saying this.

@mark/freethinker
Insha Allah I will respond to your other questions on a later time since this is already too long

These fine words are from Abdu, for your study and thoughts. Please pray for Abdu, that He be granted peace.....

Let me start off by quoting you a verse from Quran that states:
" And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship me."

Obeying the Creator means to sometimes give up that which you desire, solely and sincerely in order to please your Lord.

Islam (submission), is all about submitting yourself in full obedience and worship.

Let me break this down for you:

1.Those who love wealth, are forced to pay an alms each year.

2.Those who love sex, are forced to keep it within the bounds of marriage.

3.Those who love alcoholic beverages, are forced to give that up.

Why, you may ask? Simply for the pleasure of God alone.

4.Those with dogs, are forced to keep them outside of the house.

Would you give up something you love in this world, with hopes of pleasing God and to be able to have much greater in the next life?

I will end with a statement from the Almighty,

" And what is the matter with you that you do not fear Allah, and hope not for reward?"

So said the prophet (sal), in translation...

"This religion is easy. No one becomes harsh and strict in the religion without it overwhelming him.

So fulfill your duties as best you can and rejoice.

Rely upon the efforts of the morning and the evening and a little at night and you will reach your goal."

@ Thakuru …….

My question 1 to you was …. Are you aware, dear brother that the Holy Bible thousands of years before your book taught mankind that Jehovah created the Heavens, the earth, the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and everything on earth from water?

Your answer is baffling. You say YES.

Then you go at a tangent. What was all that about? What are you afraid of? All that devious verbosity to make us forget that you said YES to the question? You are funny and so transparent.

Re. Q2… looks as if you refer me to that turncoat Yusuf. What he does not tell you is that it's Christian researchers with great integrity that have done such research.

In spite of that they remained Christian and true to their faith even after giving their findings. Can you show me such examples of intellectual integrity in your faith? Praise the Lord!

Re. Q3… I remind you the question. …. What would you say if I tell you that the whole Western culture and Western scientific progress and development have all been powered by the power of the holy Bible?

You do find it hard to accept universally accepted facts. The fact that Western culture and development in the west has been inspired by the Bible has never been denied.

You seem to find it hard to distinguish between the established CHURCH and individual Christians who are deeply religious and lead their religion according to deeply ingrained Biblical values.

ALSO take slavery. It’s the Christian West driven by her deeply religious Christian sons who ultimately ABOLISHED SLAVERY - first amongst them and then pressurised THE WHOLE WORLD to comply with the same moral imperative.

WHERE DOES YOUR BOOK ABOLISH SLAVERY, PLEASE GIVE YOUR YOUR REFERENCE?? OR DOES IT CONDONE SLAVERY?

What you are doing is listing the errors of the established Church.

Nobody denies that. ITS STALE NEWS… we have already long long long “charged”, “judged” and “tried” the church for those failings; their sentence – EMPTY CHURCHES.

However the vast Majority carry on with their Christian values.

Re. Q4… I asked you…… What would you say that.. Nowhere in the Bible would you have reference to the sun setting in a muddy pool?

Thakuru you try to avoid the question by talking about problems in the bible that has been highlighted by Christians themselves that in fact relate to the transmission of the Bible.

That does not in anyway caste any doubt on the unitary doctrinal line of thought that runs right through the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. But this is beside the point.

Lets put the question in a more direct way… CAN THE SUN SET IN A MUDDY POOL?

As for scientific, logical and medical inconsistencies there are long lists for your book too, just like the Bible.

The difference is that this has been researched and published by Christian experts for the Bible, but has been done ONLY by Christian and Jewish experts for your book.

That speaks volumes as to the integrity of the two camps. I draw my conclusions just as any normal unbiased thinker. I invite you to do the same.

Awaiting answers to these 4 questions + Q5-Q10. That’s waiting 10 answers from you. This too is a technique of your type of apologist. Quite TRANSPARENT.

If you are having trouble answering why don’t you answer just this before you answer the other questions later…

ALSO take slavery. It’s the Christian West driven by her deeply religious Christian sons who ultimately ABOLISHED SLAVERY - first amongst themselves and then pressurised THE WHOLE WORLD to comply with the same moral imperative.

WHERE DOES YOUR BOOK ABOLISH SLAVERY? PLEASES GIVE YOUR REFERENCE? OR DOES IT CONDONE SLAVERY?

Merry Christmas and Compliments of the season.

Seek out that which benefits you, seek help only from Allah and never say you can't do it. If any adversity comes to you, do not say "If I had only acted in such and such a way, it would have been such and such," but instead say "Allah has decreed it and what He willed, He has done," for verily the word "if" opens the way for the work of Satan.

This is sister Ruths thoughts. Pls include sister Ruth in your prayers. May Allah Bless her and Give Her the strength to continue in the New Path she has embraced - Islam.

For anyone who sincerely contemplates the miraculous way the universe is created and sustained, it's obvious that there can only be one creator and sustainer who is greater than anything in His creation and who exists completely outside of His creation.

Knowing that you are a part of that miracle gives endless depth to your own existence.

Slaves
As far as slavery was concerned, Arabs in the pre-Islamic days were as bad offenders as their neighbours. Slaves were a commercial commodity, and slavery was an established institution. It was a source of livelihood for thousands and a source of labour for scores of thousands. To the elite, the number of slaves in the household was a symbol of status. This was the state of affairs at the advent of Islam.

Islam encourages freeing of slaves mentioned in quran:

We pointed out to him [man] the two conspicuous ways [of good and evil]? But he would not attempt the uphill road [to righteousness]. What will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? It is the setting free of a slave….” (Q:90:11-13)

"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness to believe in God and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing. (The Noble Quran, 2:177)"

"Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to God: for God hath all knowledge and all wisdom. (The Noble Quran, 4:92)"

"God will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families; or clothe them; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth God make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful. (The Noble Quran, 5:89)"

Inshah Allah If you stil want more i can show you from the quran and from hadiths how much its encouraged to free slave and to treat the slaves well.

Historical facts
The Church did not condemn slavery. Orthodox and heretic, Roman and barbarian alike assumed the institution to he natural and in-destructible. Pagan laws condemned to slavery any free woman who married a slave; the laws of Constantine [a Christian emperor] ordered the woman to be executed, and the slave to be burned alive. The Emperor Gratian decreed that a slave who accused his master of any offence except high treason to the state should be burned alive at once, without inquiring into the justice of the charge.(Lecky, W.E., History of European Morals, vol.II (New York, 1926), p.61, as quoted by Will Durant, op. cit., vol. IV, p.77.)

"Take away the black man! I can have no discussion with him," exclaimed the Christian Archbishop Cyrus when the Arab conquerors had sent a deputation of their ablest men to discuss terms of surrender of the capital of Egypt, headed by Negro 'Ubaydah as the ablest of them all. To the sacred Archbishop's astonishment, he was told that this man was commissioned by General 'Amr; that the Moslems held Negroes and white men in equal respect judging a man by his character and not by his colour(Leeder, S.S., Veiled Mysteries of Egypt (London, 1912), p.332.)

“A master was enjoined to make his slave share the bounties he received from God. It must be recognised that, in this respect, the Islamic teaching acknowledged such a respect for human personality and showed a sense of equality which is searched for in vain in ancient civilization” Riviere P.L., Revue Bleaue (June 1939).

Napoleon Bonaparte is recorded as saying about the condition of slaves in Muslim countries:
“The slave inherits his master`s property and marries his daughter. The majority of the Pashas had been slaves. Many of the grand viziers, all the Mamelukes, Ali Ben Mourad Beg, had been slaves. They began their lives by performing the most menial services in the houses of their masters and were subsequently raised in status for their merit or by favour. In the West, on the contrary, the slave has always been below the position of the domestic servants; he occupies the lowest rug. The Romans emancipated their slaves, but the emancipated were never considered as equal to the free-born. The ideas of the East and West are so different that it took a long time to make the Egyptians understand that all the army was not composed of slaves belonging to the Sultan al-Kabir.” Cherfils, Bonaparte et l`Islam (Paris, 1914).

The only redress prescribed by Christianity is seen in the letter of St. Paul to a certain Philemon sending back to him his slave, Onessimus, with a recommendation to treat him well. Nothing more.

Some question to brother mark
Now my question to you, where in the bible does it say to free slaves?

What do u say about Deuteronomy 20:13-14?
[13] And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
[14] But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

What do u say about Numbers 31:7-18?
Numbers 31:[17] Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
Numbers 31:[18] But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Re 1:Brother mark my answer to you was very simple. All divine revelations came from Allah. The bible today is the distorted form of the divine revelations where a lot of omittin and commitin had been done. But stil there might be areas that have remained free from distortion. So if the bible says what you say it says and since its in accordance with the Quran i said yes.

Re Q3:
Quote: "You do find it hard to accept universally accepted facts. The fact that Western culture and development in the west has been inspired by the Bible has never been denied."

"Universally accepted fact" is just your opinion not a fact. I provided you with facts that are verifiable and the facts I provided negates the statement you made. Read again, it is the "western history" thats denying your claim. Isn't that enuf evidence. Why dont u provide some proof of ur claim? That the bible had anything to do with the science that can seen in the west today.

Re Q4:
The christians brother once again is refering to a verse in the quran. Surah Kahf, ayah 86 which means:

And they ask you about Zulqarnain. Say: I will recite to you an account of him (18:83)

Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing (18:84)

So he followed a course (18:85)

Until when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found/perceived it setting in a murky water, and he found beside it a nation. We said: Zul-Qarnian! either chastise them or take in respect of them the way of kindness(18:86)

Lets observe here, until he(zul-Qarnain) reached the setting-place, he(zul-Qarnain) found/perceived it setting in a murky water. Thus the verse is expressing his(Zul Qarnains) thoughts.

Arabic word WAJAD وجد has two distinct meanings: one, he found it, lighted on it, attained it, having an objectivity, a correspondence with fact; the other is, he perceived it, became sensible of it, having only a subjective import. Here it is used in the latter sense, and the phrase means, ‘it appeared to him that the sun was setting.’

In the noble verse 18:86, Glorious Qur’aan is neither claiming nor suggesting that sun sets in the murky water or in a spring or in dark water etc. In fact the Qur’aan is mentioning a past event that took place before the advent of Islaam. The Jewish Rabbis and Quraysh of Makkah asked the questions, to verify the Prophethood of Muhammad.

Now I ask my christian brother mark to reflect on the bible:

[KJV]Deuteronomy 11:30 Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?

[KJV] Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Quote:"As for scientific, logical and medical inconsistencies there are long lists for your book too, just like the Bible" ,is another blank statement with no evidence.

By the way your claim that the west being driven by the biblical education is pure non-sense because non of the westeners (except maybe for a few) reflect anything that can be called christian in there life.

So brother even after the verifying the falsehood in the bible your willing to carryon with it rather than finding out if there exist any truth where falsehood had not crept in. Is that how "any normal unbiased thinker" would come to a conclusion?

May Allah guide you and the rest of us to the truth -Amin-

That is what you said. It clearly shows that the institution of slavery is tolerated in Islam. I agree that to free a slave is seen by your religion as a meritous deed. But to do that "good deed" you have to have slaves. PERIOD.

Some question to brother mark
Now my question to you, where in the bible does it say to free slaves?
…….
The first Christians to realise the abobination of slavery based on Biblical teachings were the Quakers and the Evangelists. In fact they spearheaded the abolitionist movements in the USA. I specifically talk about the USA because it was more than anybody the abolition of slavery there and the moral lead that they took that forced the African countries and your Muslim countries to at last abolish slavery.

From where did these Christians get their moral strength to oppose this well established institution dating to antiquity?

Being myself based in Maldives where I’m prohibited to have material pertaining to the Bible and its studies by law; I’m handicapped. However such verses as Genesis 1:27 clearly states the foundation for the opposition of slavery is well known.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. – Genesis 1:27

This indeed is what’s happened.
Ultimately it was ordinary, good, practising Christians with their Judeo-Christian roots and values that abolished SLAVERY IN THE WORLD.

Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [1]

The Bible states that all of mankind is equal in the eyes of God.

Also, you must realize that in the Old Testament, the slaves were not forced laborers working in a cotton field. A better term for it would be "indentured servant", and it also included prisoners of war. If a man could not afford to feed his family, one option would be to sell himself and his family into servitude of another man. They would be given food, a place to live, etc, perhaps with other agreements(Such as Jacob working for Laban a total of 14 years to marry Rachel). The Old Testament laws speak against abuse of slaves. More importantly, during the year of Jubilee(every 50th year) the Israelites were to forgive all of their debtors--including their slaves.

Overall, the foreign nations, including the Roman Empire, were astonished by the relatively humane treatment of slaves and prisoners of war by the Israelites

:-) That is the old covenant. WE ARE UNDER THE NEW COVENANT . Ask the Jews about that. It does not concern us.

For you to understand ….. In this land a law regarding theft might be current in accordance of a constitution say in 1900. In 2000 you might have another constitution and a new law might be passed regarding theft. Which law would be pertinent to us?

I can Insha Allah show you similar verses from Quran. Then again I did show you verses in Quran where it is explicitly said to free the slaves. I need something similar from the bible. Do they not look at Allah's creation, (even) among (inanimate) things,- How their (very) shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, and that in the humblest manner? (16:48)

And your Allah is One Allah: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise. (2.163-4)

Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.

Yea, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and to Allah is the final goal (of all).

Seest thou not that Allah makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap? - then wilt thou see rain issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away from whom He pleases, the vivid flash of His lightning well-nigh blinds the sight.

It is Allah Who alternates the Night and the Day: verily in these things is an instructive example for those who have vision!

And Allah has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily Allah has power over all things. (24:41-45)

O you mankind! We have created you of a male and a female, and then We made you(into different) races and tribes so that you may know each other. Surely the most honourable of you with Allah is the one who is most pious among you; surely Allah Is All-Knowing & Aware.(Qur'an 49:13)

You see brother, it clearly says here in quran all mankind is equal, and further states that most honourable among men is the most righteous. The later part in this verse is actually very important. Why? Because it give reason for mankind to do good. If the verse had said all mankind is equal and stopped, then there would arise a moral dilemma. One could argue saying there is no need for any good, cos we are all equal in the eyes of God no matter what. See how the quranic verse avoids such dilemma.

Now when we observe the biblical verse brother mark presented:See how incomplete it is.
Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [1]

Let me also quote a contradicting verser from the "New Testament"
From the NIV Bible, 1 Timothy 6:1
All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

From the NIV, Titus 2:9)
Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer

That being said why do I say the abolition movement had nothing to with the christianity or the bible.

The slaves themselves had begun to play an obvious and undeniable role in the debate about their own future. This proved to be the
turning point in the story of British abolition.” ("Britain's Slave Empire" by James Walvin, p71)

a freed slave called Toussaint L'Ouverture (1746-1803) in the French Caribbean colony of St. Domingue. In 1800 he and his followers rebelled, conquering the Spanish half of the island of Hispaniola. He declared himself governor of the whole island. A large force dispatched by Napoleon Bonaparte failed to suppress the revolt, and in 1804 the new republic of Haiti was recognized... the world was astonished by a successful slave revolt, and the example hastened the end of the slave trade.” (Quoted from "Ideas that Shaped our World" encyclopaedia)

The testimony, suffering and actions of the slaves themselves were the driving force behind abolitionism; how else could it be! The slaves, first of all people, wanted the slave trade to end. The Christian Churches condoned slavery of non-Christians, which meant all black people as blacks were inferior to Christians and could 'never understand' or be saved. Slaves were not educated; they remained illiterate. As such, they were seen as unholy and weren't allowed to touch or read Bibles, and mostly banned from entering Churches at all. The circle was one of religious and institutionalized persecution combined with religious justification and economic benefits.

And then came the economical interest of abolishing the slaves. The economic costs of keeping, shipping and securing slaves were astronomical. Slave revolts, facilitated by the human will to survive, and organized by powerful leaders some of whom were also underground Voodoo leaders, were uncontrollable and random expenses. The increasing success and strength of such revolts made keeping large populations of slaves under control economically unviable. "1776, Adam Smith's study in economics The Wealth of Nations concluded that slavery was uneconomic due to the costs involved in keeping slaves under control."

Of all the effective and authoritively commanding oppositions to the slave trade, the British campaign was most effective. "The French abolitionist movement, although 'socially more substantial', remained politically less effective than the British one.Britain was not the first to ban the slave trade - Denmark had done so in 1803 - and although the U.S., Sweden and Holland soon followed suit, Britain's campaign [...] was by far the most widespread."

Now, should I give the credit to the bible or the christians. No. Why? See for youself, from the time of Jesus up until 1803. If it had anything to do with the bible it would have been achieved before this. Don't you think so? But why wait until the slaves themselves starts fighting for their freedom and then take the credit for it. Thats called injustice and stealing. Moreover if one analyses the bible, one could see too many verses allowing and sometimes encouraging slavery, whereas very few that can even be indirectly meant to release the slaves. How can such a bible be the motive of abolition of slavery.

@ Thakuru.

The fact that slavery is an institution that’s as old as the family nobody contests. The fact that slavery was closely woven into the social and economic fabric of society is also obvious.

Bearing this in mind that the Bible speaks about slavery is also incontestable. Given that your book so closely mimics the Bible, it’s to be expected that your book follow the lines on slavery taken by the Bible. All your many posts just confirm this. Thank-you.

Having said that, it’s also a fact that slavery was officially abolished. My question is very simple. Who were principally involved in the abolitionist movements of slavery? Did this abolitionist movement start in Saudi Arabia or any other Islamic nation? Can you name ONE MUSLIM WHO TOOK ANY LEAD ROLE IN THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY? JUST ONE?

Going on …. You said … Another 5, for brother mark, total of 10….
Wow! That sounds familiar :-)…. Anyway..

First and foremost I do not pretend to be a Biblical scholar because I’m NOT. Having said that, your smug posting of these perceived problems of the Bible is to say the least is puerile and demonstrates some incomprehension of the transmission of the Bible.

The Saviour lived with man some 2000 + years ago. He had his chosen disciples and his close entourage and his followers, and his enemies - the Jewish established theological leaders in the Pharisees, Sadducees in the Sanhedrin. All of them observed him.

The memories of these people were recorded. There were hundreds if not thousands of these recordings. If this was just that it would have been fine, but these different recordings lead to huge unrest due to heresies that took root. Around 325 AD, with the first council of Nicea was the first attempt to rationalise these recordings, and the first official canon was born.

Given this history of compilation one understands in the 4 Gospels we have 4 accounts of what took place when the saviour was with us. Four points of view, four perspectives of the same event. The apparent discordance itself points to its authenticity.

These differences of detail are no big deal. Imagine you go to a football match, CNN reports 70,000 people. Al Jazeera speaks of a stadium full and ABC reports of more than 50,000 and AP reports close to 100,000 people. A person without ulterior motives has the central message that there was a football match watched by a GREAT MANY PEOPLE.

So different incidents in the life of the saviour comes down to us through the eyes of different people and they record what they thought was important. The central message in all 4 Gospels is the same.

It’s only the Christian fundamentalists who deny what you have recorded. By the way these differences were studied and recorded by individual Christians themselves centuries ago. The majority of them all remained Christian.

What you have to learn, Thakuru is that there is a big difference between the established Churches and the evangelical movement of Christians.

To deny the influence of the Bible in the making of the Western Civilization is like the Iranian President denying the holocaust. With such an attitude there cannot be any dialogue. Then, I didn’t expect anything better from you. :-)

As salaamu alaikum:
Alhamdulillahi, I think by Allah’s Grace we have had interesting things discussed in this site. Whilst its interesting, fascinating and Insha Allah productive in having inter faith discussions, I would ask our brothers and sisters to please continue with the posting of ayats and Hadis that has impressed or moved you. Whilst Thakuru and Marc carry on with this engrossing exchange of facts and ideas, lets also continue with those wonderful posts.

In my humble opinion, the prime goal of every one of us must be to complete his submission to Allah. To achieve this we must know to what commands, likes and dislikes of Allah we must submit to. For this we have to read the Koran and Hadis, because this is where Allah has let us know what HE WANTED FROM HUMAN BEINGS.

I know that there are many who would say that since we are NOT SCHOLARS of Figh, we have no right to derive lessons from Ayats and Hadis on our own. DO YOU AGREE WITH SUCH IDEAS? I don’t. I simply do not want to waste precious time waiting for such scholars to fulfil my need of trying to submit myself as best as I can to Allah’s commands. I might die tomorrow. Insha Allah Reading a Hadis or Ayat - NOW might make a big difference to me.

By saying this I'm not belittling reducing or even marginalizing the religious scholars. They have their roles to play. It’s their duty that they communicate to us the lessons of Koran and Hadis by putting into practice what they had learnt. Every Muslim would welcome such scholars with learning, piety and TAQWA with open arms. Their role is to correct us when we err, to inform us when and what we don’t know & to teach us. Allah would indeed Insha Allah reward them.

@ Thakuru,
We all have been impressed and prayed to Allah to Bless you, for sharing your knowledge with us. I invite you to post a main post for us as a visitor post. I was thinking our next theme to be “Reading the Holy Koran & Lessons from the 1st. Generation of Muslims”. My email is jassilme@yahoo.co.uk

@ All of you.
Lets also take time, Insha Allah to think of our Current Situation in Maldives. From an Islamic, Social, Economic & General Perspective, WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROBLEMS THAT WE FACE IN MALDIVES? I think identifying the problems wouldn’t be controversial at all. Please do not worry. This is an open forum, and you may tell us what you want, in the manner you wish – remaining anonymous or giving a pen name. The only restriction would be that I would not entertain any disrespect to the person of the prophet and disrespect to the Koran.

@ Freethinkers, secularists and Christians.

If you respect the restrictions that I just made, your input would be appreciated, and Insha Allah we would mutually benefit with these exchanges of ideas.

If anyone has problems with their posts, please email me, Insha Allah time permitting I would correct and return your posts to you. If anyone has ideas on improving and making this more interesting pls email me your suggestions at jassilme@yahoo.co.uk
May Allah reward all of you.

Peace to All of you, and May Allah Guide us to Him. Ameen.

@ Muslim brothers and sisters.

Looks as if winds of change are truly in the air in Maldives. Christians will react by attacking us by playing on our emotions. They will encourage you to be emotional.

One of their favorite methods is to talk about your sins. That with your sins you cannot enter heaven, etc, etc, etc.

Lets remember that as Muslims we have to be grateful to Allah because He has informed us about this – SINS very clearly.

The noble Qur'an, (39):53

"Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt (through excessive sin)! Despair not of the mercy of Allah.

Verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful."

Anas ibn Malik narrated in Mishkat Al-Masabih the following:

"Allah's Messenger (pbuh) stated that Allah said, "O Son of Adam, as long as you supplicate to Me and have hope in me I will pardon you in spite of what you have done, and I do not care.

O Son of Adam, if your sins were so numerous as to reach the lofty regions of the sky, then you asked My forgiveness, I would forgive you, and I do not care.

O Son of Adam, if you were to meet Me with enough sins to fill the earth, then met Me, not associating anything with Me (in worship), I shall greet you with it's equivalent in forgiveness.'"

Indeed, dear brothers and sisters Allah is the ALL MERCIFUL. All that Allah asks is NOT TO ASSOSIATE PARTNERS TO ALLAH. With that we turn to Allah for pardon for sins. Allah will forgive us.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
"Do not over-praise me as the Christians over-praised Jesus the son of Mary. I am His slave, so say: 'God's slave and messenger'." Narrated by both Al-Bukhari and Muslim

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Our President Nasheed has given us a really fine boost and we can expect things to happen this NEW YEAR. I already smell the freshness of freedom in the air, in Male that was not there before. Freedom, Liberalism and success beckon us, and its up to us to grab the opportunity, fast.

The Young, Educated and Progressive youth of this country did the impossible. We decapitated "the regime of 30 years". We now have to deal with another more formidable foe – the bearded Talibs and the Ninja’s. Once we pack them off to the Saudi dessert WE CAN AND WOULD BE TRULY FREE.

These poor dogmatic innocents that frequent this blog "Maldivians For Islam" like the likes of Jasmine, Thakuru, Yusuf, and all those cut and paste artists are in delusion.

There is nobody in Maldives who is interested in your brand of crap anymore. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND WE WANT OUR SPACE. NOW!!!!!!!!!

We ALL want a decent standard of living, not as a handout but as our due for work well done.

The Government has to provide the means of achieving these goals by investing in education, training, career counseling, investing in public health, transport, enhance fishing, explore modern methods in agriculture, leisure, creating the atmosphere for attracting foreign investment and of course boosting productivity.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so opportunities for just chilling out in a disco, night club, casino or just eat out without fear of some lunatics blowing your head Off, should fast become a reality in our paradise islands. We have worked hard for our democracy so now individual freedoms without any hindrance must follow.

Individual freedoms means the FREEDOM TO CHOOSE - What we eat, what we drink, what we do, when we do, what we say, when we say, what we worship, how we worship. Its obvious that the only limit being transgressing into someone else’s space.

To Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom!

That’s the toast for this promising NEW YEAR’S DAY. :-)

The teachings of the Prophet on how you and I should treat our Non-Muslim friends and neighbours on a day to day basis as well as how the government should treat a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state.

"He who believes in God and the Last Day should honour his guest, should not harm his neighbour, should speak good or keep quiet." (Bukhari, Muslim)

"Whoever hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys God." (Bukhari)

"He who hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state, I am his adversary, and I shall be his adversary on the Day of a Judgement." (Bukhari)

"Beware on the Day of Judgement; I shall mysefl be complainant against him who wrongs a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state or lays on him a responsibility greater than he can bear or deprives him of anything that belongs to him." (Al-Mawardi)

"Anyone who kills a Non-Muslim who had become our ally will not smell the fragrance of Paradise." (Bukhari)

Hope you find these tracts useful. Pls include me in your prayers please. May Allah Bless ALL MUSLIMS. May Allah HELP GAZA BRO/SIS.

this s what jasmine posted at another blog. I think its a good post that can be of use too.

@ anonymous 1/1/09 01:52
You said …… “You and your religion. Me and my faiths and principles that i adhere to. get it..”

This post by anonymous – 01:52 is representive of what many secularists and the so called freethinkers fling at Muslims. I have taken time to answer them from my point of view. It’s my effort to Get close to my CREATOR. These are my thoughts and if I make a mistake below, please do correct me. May Allah guide us! Ameen.

If you find this not to your taste, scroll down and block me out…. :-)

Yes I get it. Its amusing because I got things very clear quite some time ago when I read the Surat Al Kafiroon – THE DISBELIEVERS. Let me share the beautiful verses of surat 109 in translation.

109.001 - 006
Say : O ye that reject Faith!
I worship not that which ye worship,
Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
To you be your Way, and to me mine.

You said…. “ so get a life and don't try to force your so called Islam or wat ever to other pp l”

I really think it might do you a bit of good to learn just a bit about islam before being judgemental as you are prone to do. If you do, it will help you to avoid looking stupid. For your edification may I post the following Koranic verses?

Read and think and see for yourself what Allah revealed 1500 + years ago. It looks to me as if its tailor made verses for you. I mean that its very relevant in relation to the way you think, and what you perceive to be Islam.

2:256
There is no compulsion in religion, for the right way is clearly from the wrong way. Whoever therefore rejects the forces of evil and believes in God, he has taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way, for God is All Hearing and Knowing.

16:82
But if they turn away from you, (O Prophet remember that) your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message (entrusted to you).

6:107
Yet if God had so willed, they would not have ascribed Divinity to aught besides him; hence, We have not made you their keeper, nor are you (of your own choice) a guardian over them.

21:107 to 109
(O Prophet?) 'We have not sent you except to be a mercy to all mankind:" Declare, "Verily, what is revealed to me is this, your God is the only One God, so is it not up to you to bow down to Him?' But if they turn away then say, "I have delivered the Truth in a manner clear to one and all, and I know not whether the promised hour (of Judgment) is near or far."

Finally what the prophet – pbuh taught us.

"Beware on the Day of Judgement; I shall mysefl be complainant against him who wrongs a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state or lays on him a responsibility greater than he can bear or deprives him of anything that belongs to him."

I guess the matter is quite clear. If you live in a country in which (survey or no survey) until very recently it was universally accepted by the islands inhabitants that they were all Muslims, then you should expect that the islands constitution would have clauses to protect Islam.

In this scenario anyone has among many options the 4 options listed below to lead his or her life…

(1). To live AS a Muslim – in public and private.
(2) To live AS a Muslim in public and live as he/she pleases in private.
(3). To live as he pleases without undermining the faith and morals of other Muslim citizens.
(4). To live as he pleases knowingly or unknowingly undermining the faith and morals of other Muslims.

In my view, (4) is the option that WOULD INVITE intervention by the authorities to prevent you from corrupting peoples Muslim faith and promoting loose morals amongst Muslims. Maybe if I put it in another way it might be more acceptable to you? So if you wish “When in Rome, live as the ROMANS DO”.

Finally you wrote… ..“i don't see any relevance between wat religion you follow and the actions of yours as this just is a Massive LIE”

----- That’s your opinion. I invite you to the blog “ Maldivians For Islam”. There why “what you do” is so relevant to you is discussed in detail. There we concluded that WHAT WAY OF LIFE YOU FOLLOW, AND WHAT ACTIONS AND HOW YOU DO THOSE ACTIONS ARE REALLY VERY IMPORTANT”.

Maybe you could visit and read and give your opinion too. May Allah Bless us all. May Allah Guide us to Him and may Allah increase in our hearts love for Allah and His prophet… Ameen.
Peace!

Hope & pray Jasmine does not mind. I like this post and think very useful. Allah Bless Jasmine and US.

@mark
Quote:Given that your book so closely mimics the Bible, it’s to be expected that your book follow the lines on slavery taken by the Bible

Obviously you missed those critical differences. If you reread the verses I gave you from the Quran and then those I quoted from bible I believe you will find these differences. If u really want me to point them out for you by Allahs will Insha Allah I can do that.

Quote:Can you name ONE MUSLIM WHO TOOK ANY LEAD ROLE IN THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY? JUST ONE?

Brother mark please go review your history. It will bear witness that we never needed an abolition act or Human Rights law to free slaves. Our muslim nations were freeing slaves long before all this. So we were actively involved in the abolition of slavery long before the so called "abolition movement" that took place in the west, no we dont want any credit of that.

Quote:Did this abolitionist movement start in Saudi Arabia or any other Islamic nation?
In otherwords the slave revolts started "in the west", the slaves fought for their freedom "in the west", because they were treated like animals "in the west". No, the slaves didnt have to fight for their freedom in Saudi Arabia or any other Islamic nation.

Quote"All of them observed him. The memories of these people were recorded."
This is tricky, because the earliest writings in the New Testament are actually Paul's letters, which were written about AD 50-60. Who is Paul? Someone who didnt even meet the savior even once in his life time.

Quote:"The memories of these people were recorded"
I see, so the bible is not "inspired" by God? Paul wouldn't agree with that.

Quote:"4 Gospels we have 4 accounts of what took place when the saviour was with us

Four? Can you tell me where the other 18+1books are?

1.The Book of the Wars of the Lord: mentioned (Bible) Numbers 21:14.
2.The Book of Jasher:mentioned in Joshua 10:13. also mentioned in II Samuel, 1:18.
3.Three books of Solomon:The first book contained one thousand and five Psalms, the second described the history of creation, and the third consisted of three thousand Proverbs. This book is mentioned in I Kings 4:32.
4.The Book of Manners of the Kingdom: mentioned in I Samuel 10:25.
5.The History of Samuel the Seer:(6) The History of Prophet Nathan & (7) The Book of Gad the Seer: These three missing books (5, 6, & 7) are mentioned in I Chronicles 29:29.
8.The Book of Shemiah, the Prophet:(9) The Book of Iddo, the Seer: Both (8 & 9) books are mentioned in II Chronicles 12:15.
10.The Prophecy of Ahijah:(11) The Visions of Iddo, the Seer:These two books (10 & 11) are mentioned in II Chronicles 9:29. The books of Iddo and Nathan are also mentioned in this verse.
12.The Book of Jehu, the son of Hanani:mentioned in II Chronicles 20:24.
13.The Book of Isaiah, the Prophet:This book consisted of complete accounts of Uzziah. It is mentioned in II Chronicles 26:22.
14.The Book of Visions of Isaiah: This lost book contained the complete accounts of Hezekiah and is mentioned in II Chronicles 32:32.
15.The Lamentation of Jeremiah:This lost book consisted of Jeremiah’s lamentation for Josiah, and is described in II Chronicles 35:25.
16.The Book of Chronicles:This missing book is mentioned in Nehemiah 12:23. (This book is not included in the present books. This is another book, which does not exist today)
17.The Book of Covenant of Moses:This missing book is mentioned in Exodus 24:7.
18.The Book of the Acts of Solomon:We find the mention of this book in I Kings 11:14.
+1.The Gospel of Jesus:mentioned in Galatians 1:7

O followers of the Book! indeed Our Messenger has come to you making clear to you much of what you concealed of the Book and passing over much; indeed, there has come to you light and a clear Book from Allah (5:15)

Quote:"The central message in all 4 Gospels is the same."
Really,Are you sure? Okay, brother so lets talk about Divinity of Jesus

1.Mark 12:29 Jesus said "Here, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." [This confirms that Jesus preached to worship One and Only God, not trinity.
2.John 20:17 Jesus said I ascend to my God and your God. [Jesus has a God according to him; can a God have a God?]
3.John 8:28 Jesus said, "I do nothing of myself” [Can a God be this dependant?]
4.John 14:28 Jesus said, "My Father(God) is greater than I am" [So, how can Jesus himself be a God?]
5.Luke 23:46 Jesus said "Father(God) , into thy hands I commend my spirit" [God does not have spirit like Jesus did.]
6.Matthew 24:36 Jesus told his followers that no one knows when the judgment day will come, only GOD knows. [Or Jesus was lying to his followers, if he was God?]
7.John 5:30 Jesus told his followers that he couldn’t do a single thing of his own. [When can God become this helpless?]
8.John 5:32 Jesus told his followers that they have never seen GOD at anytime nor ever heard his voice. [Or Jesus was lying again here, if he was God?]
9.Luke 5:16 Jesus prays to God. [Funny, if Jesus was God, then why he is praying to God? A worshipper cannot be a GOD]
10.Matthew 26:39 Jesus fell on his face and prayed.[Jesus prayed just like the muslims do?How would you explain this from the very Bible?]
11.Matthew 19:16-17. See also Mark 10:17-19 and Luke 18:18-20:“And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
12.Luke 22:43:“And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.” [If the angel came to strengthen God, I would worship the angel instead!]
===============================
Lo! The likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then said unto him: Be, and he was.(Quran 3:59)

They are but names, which you have named - you and your fathers - for which Allâh has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord!Quran 53:23)

Brother, the inspired word of God cannot be this much misleading. A divinely message should be very clear. Specially when it becomes the source of guidance to mankind. God has control over everything, if bible is the Gods guidance, and if there is to be no other revelation to come after that, wouldn't God have protected it from such errors. The obvious question which follows is, Has God sent down another divinely revelation to put the records straight? Is there any other revelation?

And when Allah says: O Jesus, son of Mary: Did you say unto mankind: take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah?, he says: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then You Knew it, You know what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Your mind. Lo! You, only You, are the knower of things hidden. I spoke unto them only that which You commanded me (saying); worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when You took me, You were the Watcher over them. You are witness over all things. If You punish them, Lo! They are Your slaves, and if you forgive them (Lo! They are Your slaves). Lo! You, only you are the Mighty, the Wise.(Quran 5:116-118)

Yes indeed Jesus/Eesa (pbuh) did not say that, and we muslims will bear witness to that. Brother mark, you cannot find in any where in the bible where Jesus (pbuh) ever say "I am a god" or "I am 'God" or "worship me", it will only be a guess work. "They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire"

Quote:"These differences of detail are no big deal. Imagine you go to a football match, CNN reports 70,000 people. Al Jazeera speaks of a stadium full and ABC reports of more than 50,000 and AP reports close to 100,000 people. A person without ulterior motives has the central message that there was a football match watched by a GREAT MANY PEOPLE."

We not talking about a football match or a hollywood movie. We r talking about Gods message to the humankind. God guidance upon us. Cant you see the difference? Stil if you look closely its not just numerical errors. Now what if CNN reports the match is being played in the US, Al-jazeera says it in the UK nd the ABC reports some other country. Isnit obvious that somebody is lying. And again imagine if "some1" says these three channels are the only channels which broadcast the "real unbiased truth". How would you react?

Say: O People of the Book come to common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, lords and patrons other than God. If then they turn back, say ye: bear witness that we (at last) are Muslims (bowing to God's will)" (Holy Qur'an 3:64)

Quote:Love truth, come to truth, and don’t be scared of the truth. You don’t have to find EXCUSES for truth. Truth needs no defense. You will discover truth if you are humble. KNOCK! AND THE DOOR WOULD BE OPENED.

May Allah Guide us all -Amin-

Alhamdulillahi, May Allah Bless you for your kind words. It would benefit all of us if you would share with us your thoughts too :-)

Our collective aim I think is to try and get close to Allah by Allah's Will and Grace. Maybe you have something to share in this regard.

In this blog, I like to give my readers the full opportunity to maintain anonymity. This is so as to encourage them to express themselves freely.

In the UK in a small community everyone is under a microscope. I too would like to comment on all aspects of life without fear of being targeted by those who dont like what I see as my duty to express.

Dear bro/sis I hope you understand me, and forgive me. From my writings one thing would be clear. I have no claim to Islamic Scholarship. I always like to add, that if I make a mistake, please correct me. I must add that many comments are a source of knowledge to us, and rest assured your contribution is welcome. May Allah Guide us.

@ Thakuru

Brother, it was lovely reading your posts to marc. I was fascinated and some info took me by surprise. May Allah Bless you and reward you for your time. In these times, these types of info can only be welcome. Its a shame, that marc seems to have ended the dialogue, judging from his last post.

@ all those posts

May Allah reward you for your verses and hadis that captivated you. Its wonderful to share. So many of us after reading, ask prayers on the contributor. Thats what being a Muslim is all about. Being submitted to Allahs will and be of service to our neighbour and fellow Muslim for Allah's swt sake.
